In The Beginning
Our school's journey started in 2017 as the Social Dance Society, facing early challenges in student engagement. Through persistence and collaboration with Cosmosis, a local yoga studio, our classes grew from zero to a dedicated group of 10-15 students. We also started the Fusion Dance Fitness classes at Club One. This foundation set the stage for a vibrant community, committed to celebrating social dance.

Expansion
In 2018, NJB Social Dance rebranded and moved to a new studio on Cable Beach, expanding its offerings with classes and events at venues like Melia, Studio Cafe, Atlantis and BahaMar. With 30-40 engaged students participating in weekly activities, the community thrived until the pandemic prompted a shift to online classes in 2020. The Goombay social dance was formalized later this year.

Looking Ahead
We are gearing up to become the featured weekly entertainment at Carnivale Bahamas, which will be our Paradise Island home. In tandem with this is the planned launch of our online academy. We plan to leverage our platform to continue to promote Goombay as the national social dance and expand our reach both locally and internationally.
